Notes for the Reader

Lebanese-American writer and poet Kahlil Gibran (1883–1931) was a philosopher whose words are known for their spiritual prose and timeless reflections. Gibran’s works are a bridge between Eastern and Western thought, and they’ve inspired many of us on our journey of self-awareness and personal growth. His famous book, The Prophet, remains an everlasting light for those seeking wisdom on life’s most significant themes of love, work, freedom and joy.

Published in 1923, The Prophet is an enduring masterpiece that speaks to the universal human experience. Told through the voice of a wise prophet, Almustafa, preparing to depart a foreign land, the book unfolds as a series of profound teachings in response to life’s deepest questions. Each chapter offers reflections on themes like marriage, children, joy, sorrow, and self-knowledge—making it a rich source of contemplation.

We felt moved to share The Prophet in this way—to help keep its spirit alive in the hearts of the young and in the seeking souls of any age. In a time when timeless truths can feel distant, this is a gentle yet profound offering back to what endures.

As if Gibran’s words weren’t deep enough, we’ve added Journaling Prompts for Self-Reflection—four prompts for each chapter, offering a way to further explore, reflect, and weave The Prophet’s wisdom into your own life.

Spirit Nourished Earth created the imagery in this series using DALL·E 3, with each piece uniquely shaped by the wisdom of its chapter. Select Prophet-inspired artwork is on the horizon for our Spiritual Decor & More collection. If there is an image you’d like to see on canvas sooner, we warmly welcome your request.
